BRANDING

Hegira means journey and we are here to provide support along the journey of life. We are dedicated to achieving wellness first for you and for our community.

Since our name change in October 2018 from Hegira Programs, Inc., we've accomplished a lot! Check out our 2020 highlights:

  • Implementation of the Zero-Suicide Model. For systems dedicated to improving patient safety, Zero Suicide presents an aspirational challenge and practical framework for system-wide transformation toward safer suicide care.

  • The development of opportunities that promote holistic wellness to the persons we serve across not just behavioral health but all aspects of health and wellness.

  • Establishment of a collaborative partnership with the much-heralded Center for Health and Research Transformation (CHRT) at the University of Michigan.

  • Expansion of our opioid reduction prevention programming which provides substance use education and information to high school students in three local high schools. Our trauma-informed programming includes Parent Child Psychotherapy, an evidence-based practice that provides trauma therapy to children under the age of six. This is a relationship-based treatment that aims to restore normal development functioning in the wake of violence. Our Children's Outpatient and Prevention services are also continuing to provide treatment and support to parents and caregivers of children that have suspected Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

  • HHI was awarded a State Opioid Response Grant (SOR) by DWIHN and MDHHS to provide a Peer Recovery Coach and Medication Assisted Treatment Services within William Dickerson Detention Facility in Hamtramck, MI. This Full-Time Peer Recovery Coach provides services to inmates with an Opioid Use Disorder by providing one on one support, assisting with obtaining resources to be active upon release, facilitating group sessions, providing recovery related materials and information, and scheduling aftercare MAT and SUD treatment appointments. Upon release, HHI’s Peer Recovery Coach provides 90-day follow up care in various forms. Our goal is to expand this program by adding additional services into Medication Assisted Treatment Services including additional peers and a clinical therapist.

  • HHI's COPE program partnered with Northville Township and Inkster Police Departments to implement a co-responder model of community-based crisis care. Since January of 2019, Hegira Health's Mobile Crisis Response teams have diverted 88% of the individuals they had contact with from inpatient hospitalization. A similar intervention in Inkster reduced calls for service to their police department from Adult Foster Care homes by 40%.
